DJ NAME & WHERE DID IT COME FROM?: DJ Mystery, came from a record that came out in 1990 called Rhythm is a mystery, I was going to be DJ Rhythm but at the time I couldnt spell it properly so chose Mystery instead. lol (had a proper embarassing DJ name before Mystery which not alot of people know).

ps - my spelling has improved a little bit now

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DJING: 22 years

HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN MUSICALLY INFLUENCED: Very much so, used to do pause button mix tapes in the mid 80's and got pay respect to my mum for being into Disco music when I was young so was brought up on Dance stuff.

WHY DID YOU START DJING / INSPIRATION, WHAT GAVE YOU THE INITIAL PUSH: Seeing Malcolm Mclaren and the world famous supreme team performing on the telly in the early 80's and being amazed at what they were doing with records / scratching and that. The thing that pushed me proper into it all was growing up in London and listening to the pirates of the time like 'Starpoint FM' / 'LWR' / 'Joy Radio' / 'Fresh fm' and so on. I wanted to get into mixing and luckily I had a chance at a very young age got my first pair of decks.

OUT OF ALL OF YOUR TUNES, WHICH ONE "NEVER FAILS" : Dont go - Awesome 3 ....... sometimes drop this old skool breakbeat classic in House sets, always goes down a storm.

DO YOU PRE PLAN YOUR SETS OR PLAY FOR THE CROWD: Never pre plan sets, luckily I play mostly crowd pleasing stuff anyway but I will always watch what is going down well in my set and keep on that vibe.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED: Everywhere..... Radio (legal and pirate) / plenty of big raves back in the day like Fusion / Helter Skelter / One Nation ...... most of the UK / Abroad / Ibiza etc.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO UP AND COMING DJS: Be original, dont copy people, enjoy what you do and go that extra mile to find tunes YOU like and not just what is the most popular top ten in this weeks download site.

HOW DO YOU SEE THE MUSIC SCENE IN 5 YEARS AND WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN IT: I would like to be invovled still but if Im really truthful I think the dance music scene on a whole is very very bad nowadays.

IF YOU HAD A TIME MACHINE WHAT YEAR  WOULD YOU GO TO AND WHY:1991 .... in my opinion the best year for Hardcore and House music, although its a toss up between 89 and 91, no.... 1991 its gotta be. That year holds alot of special memories for me, things really took off and of course the original Radioactive 101.8fm was around ;-)
